My thesis in college was a promotion strategy for a fictional drink that I labeled Icetea. I made a complete promotion strategy for it from print, television, broadcast and even internet advertisements. It was that thesis project that landed me my current job.
I was on my final year as a development communication student and one of the requirements for graduation was a thesis. My cool uncle who owns an advertising firm gave me the idea for my thesis. He was working on the promotion of a new product and was asking me for fresh ideas. I realized that I should do a thesis on a mock product and do the whole promotion hoopla.
I chose Icetea because I love iced tea. I love ice tea so much that I drink at least a litter of it every day. It is just a logical choice for me to promote a product that I love.
I created a campaign for my product, complete with filmed TV commercial, recorded radio commercial, printed poster, and up and running website for the product. One of the judges who graded my thesis is an executive of an advertising company. When he saw my work he offered me a job immediately. That was how I landed this job.
